Earl F. Whitaker, born on September 25, 1938, in Disko, Indiana, passed away on March 3, 2025, at Stillwater Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Earl owned and operated an automotive shop and was the founder of Whitaker Communications, where he continued to work tirelessly up until his passing. He and his son worked side-by-side; Shawn has continued to operate the family business.
Earl attended Silver Lake High School; he learned the value of hard work at an early age. After high school, Earl met Jacqueline "Jackie" Kreighbaum, they were married on February 22, 1959 in Akron, IN and spent 62 years together before Jackie's passing on November 20, 2021. He was a proud patriot and was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He always found joy in simple pleasures, particularly working in the yard and tending to his garden. For relaxation, he enjoyed spending time at home watching old Westerns.
Earl is survived by his son, Shawn (Jennifer) Whitaker, of Warsaw; his brother, William (Jan) Whitaker, of Brownsburg, Indiana; and his sisters, Alicia Shreve of Naples, Florida, Sadie (Joe) Shafer of Macy, Indiana and Nadene (Gary) Ward of Lakeland, Florida. He was also survived by his granddaughters, Alyson (Cameron) Deel and Madison Leedy.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie; parents, Lacy and Martha Shepherd Whitaker; his sisters, Norma Cassaday and Darlene Krause; his brother, Henry Whitaker; and his brother-in-law, Jim Shreve.
