Warsaw

Edith E. Carper, 96, of Palestine Lake, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Born on September 16, 1928, in Bremen-Vegesack, Germany, she was the daughter of Erich and Elizabeth Blomeyer (Lenz). Edith's journey through life was marked by her deep commitment to family and her quiet, yet vibrant spirit.

Edith dedicated herself to her family as a devoted homemaker, reflecting her strong belief in the values of care and support. She married Glenn D. Carper on May 1, 1954, embarking on a partnership that would be a guiding light in their family’s life. Sadly, on March 19, 1988, exactly 37 years to the day, Glenn passed away at the age of 70.

Throughout the years, Edith found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She played rhythm guitar in the Bob Harris Band for many years, sharing her musical talent with those around her. An avid gardener and nature lover, she found joy in tending to her plants and vegetables. Her daughter and grandchildren would describe her as the best mom and grandma. She will be dearly missed by those who loved her most.

Her legacy continues to shine brightly through her family members. She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Carper, along with grandchildren: Reggie Carper, Ingred (Kurt) Kipfer, Dawn Gatke, Mike Carper, Mary Kay (Keith) Downey, Stephanie Janas and Rhya (Mike) Walters. She was a proud great-grandmother to Heather Carper-Phelps, Rori Kipfer, Casey Gatke, Samantha Downey, Christopher Downey, Jaya Brees, Josephine Brees, Angelina Janas, Cady (Adrian) Luley, Devon Ooley, Jahi (Sierra) Stetzel, Madison (Jacob) Corbett and Arianah Walters. Edith is also a great-great grandmother to River, Sylvie, Livienne and Camryn. Additionally, she is survived by her daughters-in-law, Gloria and Mary Lu Carper. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her children, Ronald Carper, Linda Brigham, Jerry Carper, and Kathy Carper; her grandson, Steve (Courtney) Ooley; and her sister, Elke Holstein.

The family members of Edith Carper wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone at Stillwater Hospice for lovingly walking Edith home. And special thanks to private-duty caregivers, Treesa and Alicia for their hours of patience, kindness and hands-on care.
