Edith "Edie" Seewald, age 77, passed away on January 14, 2025, at the age of 77 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on January 19, 1947 to Robert and Genevera (Getz) Hohenstien in McComas, West Virginia. She spent the majority of her life in Fort Wayne, where she dedicated herself to the fields of family and marriage counseling, leaving a profound impact on the lives of those she served. Edith also worked with at-risk girls, demonstrating her commitment to fostering resilience and hope in the younger generation.
She was a graduate of Elmhurst High School, and went to further her education at Indiana University in Bloomington before completing her master’s degree at Adler Graduate School of Psychology. Her intelligence and independence were hallmarks of her personality, complemented by a heart full of compassion for those in need.
Beyond her professional life, Edith found joy in simple pleasures. She was an avid quilter and skilled crocheter, often expressing her creativity through her crafts. She had a deep love for dogs and cherished her time spent during the winter months in Sun City Center, Florida, where she enjoyed visiting the beach in Little Harbor.
Edith is survived by her companion of many years William Kaster of North Webster and by her loving children, Pastor Rob (Amy) Seewald of Etna Green, Carrie (Larry) Bleke of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Erin (Randy) May of Fort Wayne. Her legacy will also live on through her grandchildren: Elizabeth (Brad) Troyer, Brittany (Matt) Ely, Anna Seewald, Tiffany May, and Nate (Michelle) May. She is also survived by her siblings, John (Deb) Hohenstien of Harlem, Georgia, and Bobbi Barnes of Hollywood, South Carolina.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents.
A Life Celebration visitation will be held in her honor on January 18, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2000 Sheridan Street, Warsaw, IN 46580, followed by a funeral service commencing at 1:00 PM with Pastor Brian Smith officiating.
