Eileen Sellers, age 94 and a resident of Grace Village, Winona Lake, passed away quietly on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Grace Village Health Care.
Born on February 15, 1925 in Thorp, Wisconsin, Eileen was the daughter of George and Katherine (Henkel) Mueller. She spent her formative years in Wisconsin, graduating from Hannibel High School and was an honorably discharged veteran of the US Army Air Force, earning the rank of Corporal. On March 8, 1946, Eileen was united in marriage to Donald D. Sellers. The two were married in Sidney and would spend fifty years traveling, laughing and helping others to know Christ before his passing in 1996.
Eileen was a graduate of Grace Seminary and worked, alongside her husband, building churches in connection with the Brethren Construction Company. In their 20 years of service to the Brethren community, they built 31 building projects including Grace Brethren Headquarters on Kings Highway in Winona Lake. Eileen and Donald also served on several short-term missions and she was active in child evangelism for more than 30 years. She was also a 40-year member of Women’s Missionary Council and had attended Lakeland Grace Brethren Church.
In her free time, Eileen enjoyed sports and was an avid golfer. She swam and exercised daily for many years and learned to water ski at 40 years of age. She loved to fish and was a skilled seamstress, making custom drapery and upholstery. She had a phenomenal sense of humor and loved to laugh.
Those who survive with memories to cherish include son: Mark Sellers (wife, Char) and grandsons: Carter Sellers and Ryan Sellers – all of Monument, Colorado, along with sisters-in-law: Joann Wilcoxson of Winona Lake and Bonnie Sellers of South Bend. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive as Eileen was the last of twelve children – four brothers and seven sisters preceded her in passing.
Eileen was a practical person and chose simple services. Cremation is entrusted to Warsaw’s Titus Funeral Home with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Liberty Mills, IN. A memorial service will be held in the Grace Village Chapel, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 11:00 am.
