Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Plew, 68, of North Webster, IN, passed away at 8:01 p.m. on Monday, February. 17, at her home after a 2 year battle with cancer.
She grew up in Delphos, OH, was the daughter of Hubert J. and Catherine (Stallkamp) Burger and graduated from St. John High School.
On May 21, 1993 in Warsaw, IN she married Thomas R. “Tom” Plew who survives and moved to the North Webster area from Fort Wayne, IN. She was the former owner / operator of Silhouette Beauty Salon in Van Wert, OH, was a successful advertising sales representative for Wawasee 103.5 radio station in Syracuse, IN, and the Columbia City Post and Mail from where she retired in 2007.
Betty was blessed with a gift for conversation and wit. She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Warsaw, IN, and was the past director and secretary of the Webster Lake Conservation Association. She was a master gardener, longtime volunteer and secretary of the North Webster Food Pantry and a 2013 Kosciusko County Heart of Gold nominee. She traveled often in past years and visited such out of the way places as Libya, Bosnia, Egypt and the Ukraine.

Granddaughter - Caroline Plew
Brother – Robert (Beth) Burger of Hampden, MA
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014 @ Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & CR 500N, North Webster, IN. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1720 E. Center St, Warsaw, IN with Pastor Robert Bruckner officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday in the North Webster Cemetery.
Memorial bequest may be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1720 E. Center St, Warsaw, IN. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
