E. Lunetta Metcalf, 97, of Winona Lake (formerly of North Webster) passed away at 4:14 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Grace Village Retirement in Winona Lake. She was born on November 21, 1913 in Leesburg, IN to Benjamin F. & Grace M. (Hartman) Lentz.
She was a lifetime area resident and attended Oswego school as a young girl before graduating in 1931 from North Webster High School. She was married on September 22, 1939 in Leesburg to William E. “Bill” Metcalf who preceded her on March 12, 2008.
She was co-owner & treasurer for Metcalf & Payne Plumbing & Heating in North Webster for many years. She retired in 1979 as the head cook at the North Webster School after 20 years of service and had previously worked at the Kosciusko County Abstract office for 5 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oswego and former member of the Charm-N-Chatter Home Economics Club of North Webster.
She is survived by:
1 Son – Philip (wife, Karilyn) Metcalf of North Webster
6 Grand, 9 Gt. Grandchildren, & 7 Step Gt. Grandchildren
1 Sister – Edythe Gordon of Fort Wayne
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son – William Douglas Metcalf, & 2 brothers – Ralph C. & Henry A. Lentz
Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & 500N, North Webster, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Oswego, 2985 E. Church St. Warsaw (Oswego), IN 46582 with Pastor Gary Colby, former minister of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in North Webster.
