Elva C. Hershberger, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 12:10 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at her home. She was born on January 11, 1922 in Nappanee, IN to Ivan Fred & Daisy V. (Pippenger) Haney.
She graduated in 1939 from Nappanee High School. She was married on January 17, 1942 in Nappanee, IN to Ward Huff who preceded her in 1956 and then on February 12, 1959 in Bremen, IN to James E. “Jim” Hershberger who survives. She moved to Syracuse in July 1964 from the Nappanee / Bremen area. She was a homemaker and formerly employed at Bremen Elementary School, Ganshorn Printing Company & Golden Rule Dry Cleaners both in Syracuse. She gave guitar lessons for many years.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse where she is a part of the Martha’s Circle and Quester’s Sunday School Class.
She is survived by:
Husband – Jim Hershberger of Syracuse
3 Daughters – Mrs. Steve (Donna) Wagner of Elkhart; Lois Lindenfeld of Raleigh, NC; & Sherry Leedy of Syracuse.
2 Sons – Keith (wife, Janice) Huff of Marion, IN & Phil (wife, Gwen) Hershberger of Bremen.
9 Grand & 17 Gt. Grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1

husband, and brother – Arthur “Bud” Haney.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse and 1 hour prior to services on Sunday at the church. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 801 S. Huntington St., Syracuse with Rev. John Modesett of the church officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Bremen Cemetery.
