Elvin Reyes, Sr., loving husband and father of two, passed away on Tuesday April 27, 2021 at 10:00 p.m. in Fort Wayne at Parkview Regional Medical Center. A resident of Warsaw, he was 67 years old.
Elvin was born on August 21, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois to Antonio Zapata and Reyes Melendez Reyes. He graduated from Tuley high School in 1971 and received his license and trade as an electrician at IBEW Local 134 in Chicago.
Elvin was huge sports fan and loved the Chicago Bears, Sox and Blackhawks. He watched their games every chance he got. He was also very proud of his Puerto Rican heritage and loved music, especially Salsa and Merengue. He also enjoyed watching horse racing and placing the occasional bet.
Elvin was married to Theresa Lynn Compton on September 19, 2006; she survives as do his two children: Elvin Reyes, Jr. (Irene) and Lisa Reyes Saez (Jose); stepson, Skyler Compton; grandchildren: Yael Reyes, Joel Lorenzi, Breanna Saez, Jose Vuittonet (Denise), Christobal Vuittonet (Linda) and Adrian Vuittonet (Welcome) and eleven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings: brother, Ben Reyes (Betsy); sisters, Anne Reyes and Carmen Vega (Nester) and his fur babies, Toby, Buddy and Milly.
Friends may join the family for Elvin's Life Celebration® on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. Visitation will be again from 6 to 7 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 7 o’clock. Titus Funeral Home’s Sharon Brockhaus will officiate.
