Ernest Lamar “Ernie” Knight, 75, of Syracuse, IN was called home by our heavenly Father at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Courtyard Healthcare in Goshen, IN following a 6 month illness. He was born on June 12, 1940 in Goshen, IN to James Edward Trainor & Lucille Daisy Knight.
He attended Goshen public schools and was a lifetime Goshen / Syracuse area resident. He was married in 1988 to Donna Marie (Haggerty) Smith who preceded him in 2005. He retired in 2002 from Syracuse Rubber Company after 32 years of service.
He was of the Catholic faith and called BINGO at local BINGO halls.
He is survived by:

Stepdaughters – Kay Caudill of Syracuse; Peggy (Donald) Caudill of Elkhart; Becky Barraza of TX; Beverly (James) Phillips of Edwardsburg, MI; Della Rieth of Syracuse; Michelle (Jim) Hamilton of Elkhart

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son – Michael Lee Knight, 2 sisters – Betty Ringler & Linda Hoover and brother - Lawrence Knight.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 in the funeral home with Fr. Tony Steinbacker of the St. John’s Catholic Church in Goshen officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
Memorial bequest may be given to Hannah’s House, 518 W. 4th St., Mishawaka, In 46544. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
