Eugene M. Marvel, 91, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 at 1:45 AM in Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw, Indiana.
“Gene” was born December 14, 1923 in Warsaw to Everett and Edna A. (Rosbrugh) Marvel. He lived most of his life in Leesburg, Indiana.
Gene entered the United States Army March 27, 1943 and served during World War ll. Cpl. Eugene M. Marvel was honorably discharged January 7, 1946 through Camp Atterbury, Indiana.
He and Edith Edington were joined in marriage February 1, 1947 in Alexander, Indiana.
He worked in the maintenance department for GTI Corp. Dytronics Divisions. In 1991 he retired after 32 years of service. He also was an auto mechanic.
Gene loved working on cars, cutting wood and was a jack of all trades.
With memories to treasure, those who survive are his wife, Edith with whom he would share 68 years; 3 daughters and a son-in-law: Joyce and Jim Garman, Leesburg; Judy Nichols and Janet Fifer – both of Warsaw; 6 grandchildren and their spouses: Julie and Scott Young, Justin Garman and Jason Nichols – all of Warsaw; Carmen and Bob Ferguson, Troy and Nichole Fifer and Cara and Rickie See – all of Pierceton, Indiana; 8 great grandchildren; 4 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law: Emogene and Vernon Garman of Elkhart, Indiana; Catherine and Robert Stillson of Fort Myers, Florida; Gladys Smith, Peru, Indiana; and Ellen Plotner of Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Dean Marvel (August 24, 1978) and Joe Marvel (March 20, 2012); and a sister: Marietta Smith (November 9, 2004).
Family and friends will gather for a time of sharing memories in support of each other Monday, March 16th from 4-8 PM at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, Indiana. A service celebrating the life of Eugene M. Marvel will take place Tuesday, March 17th beginning at 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, where military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post # 1126.
The family has asked that gifts in Gene’s memory be given to Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, PO Box 1906, Warsaw, Indiana 46581-1906.
