Evelyn “Joan” Hann, 80, of Milford, IN passed away at 8:10 a.m. on Thursday June 10, 2010 at Miller’s Merry Manor of Warsaw, IN. She was born on July 29, 1929 in Warsaw to Wilbur Perry and Loah Mabel (Roberts) Walton.
She was a lifetime Kosciusko County area resident and attended the Milford and Syracuse Public Schools. She was married on March 1, 1947 in Michigan to Jesse F. Hann who preceded her on Nov. 7, 1993. She was a homemaker and formerly assisted her husband with landscaping and maintenance at Pickwick Park in Syracuse. She was formerly employed as a receptionist for Dr. Ross in Elkhart and Dr. Thwaits in Syracuse and as a nurse’s aid and geriatric aide at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse.
She was a member of the North Webster United Methodist Church since 1984, which she was part of the United Methodist Women’s Group. She was also a member of Al Anon. She had formerly attended St. Andrews United Methodist Church for 35 years.
She is survived by:
1 Step-Son – Jesse (wife, Nancy) Hann, Jr. of Mishawaka, IN
1 Granddaughter, 3 Gt. Granddaughters, 5 Step Grand and several Step Gt. Grandchildren
2 Sisters – Erma Mast of Georgetown, KY and Mrs. Herbert (Wilma) Everest of Edwardsburg, MI
2 Brothers – Carroll L. (wife, Thelma) Walton of Pierceton and Clifford C. (wife, Deanna) Walton of Cromwell
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son – Fritz E. Hann, 2 sisters - Betty Smith & Waneta Prescott, step son – Thomas Hann; & step-daughter – Dorothy Delater.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010 at the North Webster Cemetery with Pastor Dave Smitley of the North Webster United Methodist Church officiating.
Memorial bequests may be given to the Evelyn Joan Hann Funeral Fund, c/o Owen Family Funeral Home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
