Ted Chapman, of Winona Lake, passed away peacefully at Grace Village Healthcare Center on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at the age of 85.
He was born Floyd Theodore Chapman in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Floyd R. and Esther E. (Metcalf) Chapman. Ted married his true love, Lora L. Binkley, in Columbus, Ohio on November 4, 1955. They shared 65 years together before her passing in December of 2020. To their union, four children were born.
Ted was heavily involved in church life and in the Gideons. He had served as a church trustee, Deacon, and taught Sunday School for many years. He enjoyed the music of the church and liked listening to the Gaithers. Most recently he was attending Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church.
Ted also enjoyed camping, boating and bicycling, having logged several thousand miles in the area. He enjoyed time on the water and traveling, too. Ted enjoyed reading, especially about the Civil War, and history. Ted loved spending time with his family.
Those who survive with memories to cherish include daughters: Bev Rogers of South Bend, Deb (Jim) Fivecoate of Mentone, Joy (David) Rieke of Plano, IL, and son, David (Gail) Chapman of Warsaw; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Esther Chapman; his wife, Lora Chapman; and his brother, Mark Chapman.
A memorial service celebrating the lives of both Ted and Lora will be held on August 28th, at 11:00 am, in Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church. The family will receive visitors for one hour before the service.
