Frances “Fran” Shively, a lifetime Claypool, Indiana resident, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 11:25 p.m. at Millers Merry Manor in Warsaw, Indiana.
Fran was born in Warsaw on April 18, 1921 to Royal and Lucile (Valentine) Neff. She was a 1939 graduate of Claypool High School.
She and Donald Shively were joined in marriage February 14, 1944 in San Luis Obispo, California.
Fran was a stay-at-home mom before becoming the librarian at Claypool Elementary School where she worked for 18 years until her retirement in 1987.
A member of Claypool United Methodist Church, she was the pianist and a member of the choir as well as a member of the Claypool United Methodist Women. Fran was also a member of the Happy Homemakers Home Ec. Club. She was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and loved to watch Warsaw High School basketball.
She is survived by her husband, Don, along with 3 sons and daughters-in-law: David and Sherry Shively, John and Peggy Shively and Thomas and Gail Shively – all of Claypool; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, her sister and brother-in-law: Martha and Don Ault of Claypool; and lastly her dog, Riley.
Fran was preceded in death by her brother: Dr. Robert Neff on April 23, 2012 and her parents.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 26th at 10:30 a.m. in Claypool United Methodist Church, 302 E. Section Street, Claypool, Indiana 46510. Pastor Michael Settles of the church will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
The family has asked that gifts in Fran’s memory be directed to Claypool United Methodist Church at the address above.
