Francisco Espino "Chico" Obando, 92, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 5:55 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at his son’s home. He was born on May 3, 1924 in Managua, Nicaragua to Palar & Leocadia (Espino) Obando.
He attended public schools in Nicaragua and was a construction contractor in Nicaragua most of his life. He was raised in the Catholic Church in Nicaragua and visited family in Syracuse often before staying in April 2016.
He is survived by:
6 Daughters – Margarita Miranda of Nicaragua, Angela Obando of Costa Rica, Maria Elena Obando of Panama, Rosaura Obando of Nicaragua, Alsira Zeledon of Nicaragua , and Janett Bladon of Nicaragua
3 Sons - Salvador Obando of Costa Rica, Gustavo Obando of Nicaragua, and Erwin (Lisa) Obando of Syracuse, IN
Numerous Grand, Gt. Grand, and Step Grand & Step Gt. Grandchildren
2 Sisters – Nacha Obando, & Rafaila Obando both of Nicaragua
Brother - Gilberto Obando of Nicaragua
He was preceded in death by his parents, son - Reinaldo Obando, and grandson Jheovany Obando.
No public services will be held at this time. Private family burial will take place in Nicaragua at a later date. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. Sat. Rd 15, Warsaw, IN. Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN is in charge of arrangements.
