Fred Miller Jr., a devoted family man and a beloved member of the community, passed away surrounded by his family on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital at the age of 75. He was born on December 23, 1948, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, the son of Fred Sr. and Josephine Miller (Meade). Fred was known for his unwavering love for his family and friends, earning him the reputation of being the life of the party wherever he went.
Fred grew up in Ohio, spending his childhood swimming in the creek and enjoying life with his family. His family then moved to Pierceton when he was 12 years old. While in Kosciusko County, he met the love of his life, Cathy Cordill. They were united in marriage on July 13, 1968, in Pierceton. The two have spent their lives raising their two sons, Scot and Fred “Jay” III.
Fred dedicated 35 years to working at RR Donnelly before embracing a well-deserved retirement. He was proud to have accomplished his goal of visiting all 50 states with Cathy by his side, many on the motorcycle, a feat that brought him great joy and fulfillment.
Fred's vibrant personality shone through in his diverse set of hobbies and interests. He found joy in attending the Ducktail Car Show with his sons and grandsons and treasured ownership of his own '64 GTO that he loved to show. Additionally, he had a passion for motorcycles, drag racing on Sundays, enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing expeditions in Canada, and cherished travel adventures with both friends and family. He would travel south just to pick up shrimp and bring it back to Indiana. For ten consecutive years, Fred embraced the warmth of winters in Palmetto, Florida with Cathy.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Cathy Miller (Cordill), sons, Scot Miller and Fred "Jay" (Lori) Miller III; grandchildren, Branden, Britney (Jeremy) Krom, Brooke (Skyler) Eager, Zac, and Briar; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Bray, Emily, Jorden, Adin, Mason, Brantley, Bryson, Connor, and Branden II; brothers, Richard (Barb) Miller and Robert (Elaine) Miller and sister-in law Mary Miller; as well as his loyal companion Meko the dog. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Among those who preceded him in death are his parents Fred Sr. and Josephine Miller, as well as siblings Cleo, Hazel, Earl, Eddie, and Henry.
