Biography
Frederick David Lukens, 88, passed away Monday, March 9, 2015 at 12:25 AM at Millers Merry Manor, Warsaw, Indiana.
Fred was born August 7, 1926 in Wabash, Indiana to Frank Russell and Hazel W. (Kreiter) Lukens.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in World War ll. He earned his GED while in the service.
A lifetime Warsaw resident, he and Geneva Correll were joined in marriage May 2, 1952 in Warsaw.
Fred was a service/installation technician for United Telephone Company for 40 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a former member of the Warsaw Masonic Lodge and loved to fish.
Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Scott and Lisa Lukens of Pierceton, Indiana; and Jon and Belinda Lukens of Warsaw; a daughter and son-in-law: Valerie and Dave Shull of Syracuse, Indiana; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and a brother-in-law: Roy Weaver, Texas.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva, on September 29, 2007 and 3 sisters: Lois Purdy, Alice Lukens and Frances Weaver.
Family and friends will come together for a time of sharing Thursday evening, March 12th from 5-7 PM at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580.
A service celebrating Fred’s life will take place Friday, March 13th at 11 AM in the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, at a later date.
The family has asked that gifts in Fred’s memory be given to a charity of choice or simple acts of kindness may be done for others.
