Gary Edwards

Gary D. Edwards, a devoted family man and a veteran for the US Navy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, in his home at the age of 70 He was born on August 6, 1953, in McCracken County, Kentucky to Calvin Edwards and Mary F. Solomon (Kincade).

Gary dedicated 18 years of his life serving in the US Navy, where he honed his skills as an operation specialist aboard several notable ships such as The Francis Marion, The Stark, and The Nimitz. His commitment to his duty and his country reflected the true essence of his character.

He was known for his selflessness and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. His giving nature touched the lives of many. If there was something he owned that a friend liked, he would give it to them. In his younger years, his musical talents shone brightly as he played guitar in a band. One of Gary's favorite holidays was Halloween. He also was an avid stamp and medieval memorabilia collector.

Gary's passing leaves a void in the hearts of his loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Becky Edwards; his daughter, Melissa Smith and son-in-law Maurizio; and his brother, Michael Scott Solomon. He is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Edwards and Mary F Solomon (Kincade); his stepfather, James Solomon; and his siblings, Terry Edwards, Barbara Edwards Gruggett, and David Edwards.
