Gary Meier

Gary W. Meier, formerly of Syracuse, passed away at Celebrate Senior Living in Fort Wayne on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the age of 66. Born on January 18, 1957, in Lafayette, Indiana, he was the son of Graham and Wilma Meier (Goins). Gary was a 1975 graduate of Wawasee High School.

Gary marched to the beat of his own drum. He was strong-willed, had a good sense of humor, and could be admired for his adventurous take on life. He lived for the thrill of driving fast (sometimes too fast) on his motorcycles. When Gary wasn’t on the road, you could find him pursuing his more creative passions. He was a skilled woodworker and forged his own style over the years. He always enjoyed creating unique pieces for family and friends.

Those who survive him include his sisters, Katherine Parker (Phillip Herbertz) of Plainfield and Carol Spires of South Bend; brother, Jerry Meier of Scottsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in passing by his parents and brother, Joseph “Joe” Meier.
