Geneva E. “Gee” Metzler, 94, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Millers Merry Manor in Syracuse. She was born on November 2, 1916 in Paint Township in Highland County, Ohio to Claude & Ida May (Hall) Case.
She graduated in 1934 from Greenfield High School in Greenfield, OH and was married on September 12, 1953 in Nappanee, IN to Norman R. “Norm” Metzler who survives. She moved to Syracuse in 1976 from North Canton, OH. She was a homemaker and formerly worked for several years at Chicago Telephone in Elkhart on the assembly line and at the Sinton Hotel in Cincinnati, OH. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse; a life member of the Order of Eastern Star in Elkhart, a life associate member of Elks Lodge #2029 in North Canton, OH, and a former member of the Moose Lodge in Elkhart.
She is survived by:
Husband - Norm Metzler of Syracuse
Daughter – Emily “Jean” Renner of San Antonio, TX
2 Grandchildren – Terri Lynn Jauer & Richard Rybacki
2 Gt. Granddaughters – Cailain & Symantha Jauer & 2 Gt. Grandsons – Shane & Dylan Rybacki
1 Sister – Martha Schiller of Chillicothe, OH
She was preceded by her parents, 2 sisters – Mamie Hinebaugh & Louise Fortney, & 2 brothers – Kenneth “Bud” & William Case
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 801 S. Huntington St., Syracuse with Pastor David Herr of the church officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the South Union Cemetery in Nappanee, IN.

Memorial bequest may be given to Calvary United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
