Obituary for
George May
George Elliot May, age 58, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018 after a short illness in Fort Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital.
George was born on March 24, 1960 in Warsaw. He was the son of Robert and Ruby (Sparks) May and one of seven children. George attended Tippecanoe Valley schools and began driving trucks at age 16.
It was while driving a chicken hauler that he would meet Teri Smith. Teri would become his companion and long-time friend. Together, the two shared nearly forty years and a son, Chad May.
George was an absolutely giving person. He was always willing to help someone in a pinch and was not one to hold his opinion back. He was honest and caring and a hard worker. For the past twelve years, he drove a truck for Ag Trucking, hauling limestone all over the Midwest. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing - especially for Bass; he had even retrofitted a speed boat with live wells as his personal Bass boat.
In addition to his son, Chad May, and long-time friend, Teri Smith – both of Warsaw, those left with broken hearts include George’s mother, Ruby May; two additional sons: Brock (wife, Lindsey) O’Brien of Churubusco and Nicholas Smith of Warsaw; daughter, Olivia Smith of Warsaw; four brothers: John (wife, Lisa) May of Rochester, Bill (wife, Cindy) May of Tennessee, Carson (wife, Shelly) May of Palestine and Rod (wife, Linda) May of Warsaw; two sisters, Bobbie Welch of North Carolina and Robin (husband, Josh) Rhodes of Warsaw. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Those who preceded him in passing include his father, Robert; two aunts, Susie Davis and Barb Francis and an uncle, Con May.
Friends may join family at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw, for a time of viewing on Sunday, September 2nd from Noon to 2 p.m. Beginning at 2 p.m., Kevin Gray, who was like a brother to George, will officiate a celebration of life service.
