He was born on September 29, 1954, in Westerly, Rhode Island to Robert George Cowan Sr. and Shirley (Seam) Taylor. Clem grew up in the North East and was a graduate of Valley Regional High School in Connecticut.
Professionally, he dedicated many years to Explorer Van in Warsaw, Indiana, where he worked both as a purchasing agent and dispatcher. His hard-working nature earned him the respect of his colleagues and had a lasting impact on the company.
More personally, he cherished Sunday morning calls with his mother (age 93) and treasured the time spent with his beloved wife, Barbara (Bunn) Cowan, to whom he was married on June 23, 1984. He also loved time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His unwavering pride in his family was evident to who knew him - he was proud of everyone!
In addition to his love for family, Clem had a passion for sports. He was an avid hockey fan cheering for the Carolina Hurricanes and the Fort Wayne Komets. His enthusiasm extended beyond hockey, as he also had a keen interest in moto track racing. He was known for his optimistic spirit, and his joy for life was infectious, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
