Glenn W. Grimm, 93, of Warsaw, Indiana passed away March 22, 2015 at 6:25 PM in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
Glenn, the son of Harvey and Lenora (Stackhouse) Grimm and was born in Nappanee, Indiana on June 26, 1921. He was a 1939 graduate of Atwood High School.
In Anniston, Alabama and on November 25, 1944, Glenn took Helen Lucille Williamson as his bride.
He entered the U.S. Army on October 10, 1944 and served during World War ll. PFC Glenn W. Grimm was honorably discharged October 28, 1945 from Indian Gap Military Reservation, PA.
Glenn lived most of his life in the Warsaw/Atwood, Indiana area. He loved being a farmer of grain and livestock and retired in 1988. He was a member of the Atwood Lion’s Club and a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Atwood, Indiana. Glenn enjoyed woodworking, shuffle board, and golfing – he even made a hole in one at Raccoon Run Golf Course. He loved chocolate ice cream. Glenn had a wonderful sense of humor, was gentle and kind. He was a loving and faithful husband and was a loving and giving father and grandfather. He spoke of his wife and daughters as his “3 favorite girls”.
Lucille, his wife of 70 years, survives along with their 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Sharon and Jerry Forthofer of Rockwell, North Carolina; Susan and Keith Ring, North Manchester, Indiana. 6 grandchildren: Gwen (and Steve) Braddock, of Johnson City, Tennessee; Matt (and Tammy) Forthofer, Mooresville, North Carolina; Brandon (and Allison) Ring, Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin; Derek (and Amy) Ring, of new Lenox, Illinois; Adam Grimm, Fort Bliss, Texas; Ashley (and Brent) Doty of Warsaw; 11 Great grandchildren, 3 Great, great grandchildren and sister, Helen Tucker, Zionsville, Indiana.
In addition to his parents, those who have preceded him in death are a son, Alan Grimm, December 27, 1987; brother, Warren Grimm, June 2, 1998.
Friends and family will gather for a time to share memories in support of each other Thursday, March 26th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in TITUS FUNERAL HOME, 2000 E. Sheridan Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580. A service celebrating the life of Glenn W. Grimm will take place Friday morning at 10:30 at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Pastor Stormy Scherer-Berry of Atwood Aldersgate United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Stony Point Cemetery, Atwood, where military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126.
The family has asked that gifts in Glenn’s memory be given to K-21 Foundation, Cancer Care Fund or Atwood Lions Club.
