Glenn D. Butler, 91, of Leesburg, IN passed away at 1:33 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Grace Village Healthcare in Winona Lake, IN. He was born on January 17, 1923 in Elkhart, IN to William F. & Bessie F. (Fultz) Butler.
He was a lifetime northern Indiana resident, graduated in 1943 from Elkhart High School and attended Mississippi State University. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the Army Air Corp as a bomber pilot. He continued to fly as a fighter pilot until 1972 for the 122nd Fighter Wing of the Indiana Air National Guard. On August 8, 1947 in California on the “Bride and Groom” radio program he married Shirley J. Black who preceded him on January 20, 2012. He retired in 1992 from Fairmont Homes as a warranty repair worker. He was a pilot for several small corporations.
He was a member of the North Webster Church of God & American Legion Post #253 in North Webster.
He is survived by:
Daughter – Sandy (Jim) Harris of North Webster
Son – Gary (Connie) Butler of Goshen
9 Grand & 14 Gt. Grandchildren
He was preceded by his parents, wife, 3 sisters, & 4 brothers.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & C.R. 500N, North Webster, IN. Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Boyer of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post # 253.
