Gloria J. Eyer, 73, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 4:13 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2010 at Goshen General Hospital in Goshen, IN. She was born on August 17, 1937 in Goshen to John L. & Edna F. (Wolf) Hart.
She lived in the Syracuse area most of her life. She graduated in 1955 from Syracuse High School and attended Warner Beauty College in Fort Wayne. She was married on September 28, 1958 in Syracuse to Garry L. Eyer. They later divorced but remained good friends until his death on July 29, 2010. She was a volunteer for Wawasee Community Schools and was formerly employed at Lakeland Daycare in Syracuse for 3 years; Sroufe Manufacturing in Ligonier for 15 ½ years; Salem Bank in Goshen for 5 years; Beauty Shop in Goshen for 2 years and Dr. Bowser’s office in Goshen.
She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse; Friends of the Library in Syracuse, Shady Ladies Bunco Club in Syracuse; She attended the Syracuse Church of God.
She is survived by:
1 Daughter – Mrs. Rick (Karen) Pena of Syracuse
2 Grandsons – Joshua Todd Eyer & Zachery Scott Eyer
2 Great Grandsons – Devin & Ben
Sister – Sylvia Baker of Syracuse
Brother – Jack (wife, Phyllis) Hart of Millersburg, IN
She was preceded by her parents, ex-husband & son – Todd Eyer
Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 20, 2010 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor Vince Wilczynski of the Church of God officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
