Gretchen A. Genshaw

Gretchen A. Genshaw, 82, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at her home from a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born on August 16, 1934 in Kankakee, IL to Melvin R. & Lucy Marie (Boyer) Dean.
She graduated in 1952 from Kankakee High School and from nursing school in Kankakee. In October 1956 she married Ronald L. “Ron” Genshaw who preceded her on December 30, 2000. She retired from St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee, IL as a Registered Nurse after 40 years of service. She lived most of her life in Kankakee, IL before moving to Syracuse in October 2002.
She formerly attended St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Kankakee, IL
She is survived by:
Son – Eric Genshaw of Syracuse
Brother – David (Kathy) Dean of Littleton, CO
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother – Tom Dean.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw, IN. A private memorial service will be held at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN with family burial at a later date.
Preferred memorial may be given to the Salvation Army, 501 Arthur St, Warsaw, IN 46580.
