Harold Jr. East, 88 years old, was called home by his Lord on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 6:50 pm in his family’s Warsaw, Indiana home.
He was born on January 30, 1928 in Warsaw and was the son of Delbert East and Glea (Rider) East.
Harold was united in marriage to Sheron K. Shafer on June 28, 1980 in Mentone, Indiana.
A farmer all of his life, Harold also worked as a foreman for Warsaw Plating Works. He retired there in 1993 with more than 40 years of service.
Known by his friends and family as “Old Fart,” Harold loved to eat breakfast with his friends and the farmers at Teel’s Restaurant. He loved farming, gardening and mowing; he loved being outside. Most of all, Harold loved his family.
Those left to cherish memories of a life well-lived include his wife of 36 years, Sheron K. East; daughter and son-in-law: Connie and Jerry Zolman of Mentone; four step-daughters: Debbi Taylor of Warsaw, Misty Hall of Warsaw, Christine Miller of Warsaw and Tracy Watkins of Silver Lake. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a sister: Geraldine East of Warsaw.
Those who preceded Harold in death include his parents: Delbert and Glea East; sister: Betty LeWallen; son: Larry East and one great-granddaughter.
Friends may gather to share stories and visit with the family on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 10 am to Noon in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Harold Jr. East will follow the visitation at Noon in the funeral home. Pastor Howard Immel of First Brethren Church, Warsaw, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
The family has asked that gifts in Harold’s memory by given to Great Lakes Caring – Hospice Foundation, 900 Cooper Street, Jackson, Michigan 49202.
The staff of Titus Funeral Home considers it a privilege and an honor to care for the friends and family of Harold Jr. East.
