Harold “Deen” Shepherd, age 72, passed away on Monday, May 1st at 6:10 AM in his home near Sellers Lake.
Born on May 4, 1944 in Silver Lake, he was the son of Wayne and Monie May (Reffitt) Shepherd. They preceded him in death.
Deen was a veteran of the United States Army, where he would eventually obtain the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged on March 29, 1971 in Fort Riley, Kansas.
He was a member of the North Webster American Legion, Post 253. He was a handyman and was known to help others when he could. He also enjoyed traveling, having recently made a trip to Southern Indiana’s caves.
Survivors include his fiancé: Annette Busz, Sellers Lake; brother, Curt (Katherine) Shepherd, Warsaw and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, those who preceded him in passing include two brothers, Robert and Donald Shepherd, and a sister, JoAnn Bradway.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, May 8th at 1 PM in Oakwood Cemetery. Honors will be presented by members of American Legion Post 253, North Webster.
