Harry J. "Lefty" Lemberg Jr.

Harry J. "Lefty" Lemberg Jr., 84, of Syracuse died at 12:49 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born on February 12, 1925 in Chicago, IL to Harry J. & Leanor (Logdson) Lemberg Sr.

He graduated in 1943 from Ignatius High School in Chicago, IL. He attended the University of Wisconsin and then graduated in 1946 from Northwestern University. He was a United States Naval officer and served in World War II. On July 7, 1945 in Chicago, IL he married Janet M. Hutchinson who preceded him in 1996.

He was formerly a self employed Textile Consultant for many years and moved to Syracuse in 1971 from Chicago, IL. He was a member of St. Martin De Porres Catholic Parish in Syracuse; Champagne Club in Chicago; American Legion Post # 223 in Syracuse; & Life member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon in Chicago.

He is survived by:
6 Sons - Richard (wife, Cathy) Lemberg of Syracuse, Charles (wife, Cindy) Lemberg of Cromwell, Harry (wife, Patty) Lemberg III of Columbus, OH, James (wife, Georgia) Lemberg of Fort Wayne, Brian (wife, Laurie) Lemberg of Fort Wayne, & Dennis Lemberg of Syracuse;
15 Grandchildren & 15 Great Grandchildren;
1 Sister - Gilmary Lemberg SSND of Notre Dame, IN.

He was preceded by his parents, wife, 1 son - Brad Lemberg, 1 grandson - Drew Lemberg, & 1 sister - Jean Dunworth

Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2009 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse with a rosary service at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Parish, 6941 E. Waco Dr., Syracuse, IN with Fr. Richard Hire officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery with military graveside rites by the American Legion Post 223.
