Max Jones

Hayden "Max" Maxwell Jones II, of Warsaw, joined his wife, Mary Carroll, in Heaven on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at the age of 84. Born in Pierceton on September 4, 1940, he was the son of Hayden and Helen Jones (Bailey).

Hayden Maxwell Jones II "Max" was one of a kind—a tequila lover, a storyteller, and a man who never knew a stranger. Whether he was cracking jokes as the “rubber nuts guy” or offering a helping hand, he made a lasting impact on everyone he met.

His life was full of adventure and hard work. In the early ’60s, he worked at Jones Hardware and taught industrial arts at Hammond Tech while raising his first two children. The ’70s brought Amphicat racing and his years as manager of Jellystone Park (1972-1976). By the mid-’80s, he was the Branch Manager at the Pierceton Lake City Bank, and from the 1980s until now, he was a familiar face at RockBottom Of Warsaw. Max had a knack for staying ahead of the times—tech-savvy well beyond his years and always finding the best deals (especially on TVs he “couldn’t pass up”). He crowned himself the “Mattress King” and even helped create “Tube-It’s” and “Bobber Seats.” No matter what, he was always there for his kids and grandkids, ready with electrical and plumbing advice at a moment’s notice.

But above all, Max loved his family. Married to his beloved “MC” for 63 years, he made sure the whole family was decked out in matching $10 Cabela’s sweatshirts. He cherished his time on Chapman Lake, hosting late-night cruises and legendary Margaritaville parties. Down in Florida, he welcomed visitors with manatee and alligator-watching trips on the St. John’s River. Max lived life on his terms—full of love, laughter, and a little bit of mischief. His deep, unmistakable laugh could fill a room, making good times even better. Though he may be gone, that laughter will echo in the hearts of those who knew him, a reminder that the best moments in life are meant to be shared and enjoyed. And every time a toast is raised, we’ll know he’s still celebrating with us. Cheers to a life well-lived.

Those who survive with broken hearts are his son, Mark (Karen) Jones and his daughters, Kelly (Craig) Smith and Jenny (Tyler) Pequignot; his grandchildren, Garrett (Paige) Jones, Logan (Desrah) Jones, Madison (Alex) Smith, Bryce (Angela) Pequignot, Bailey Pequignot, and Brandon Pequignot, as well as his great-grandchildren, Ellie, Jayce, Blakely, Maddex, Freya, Hayden Maxwell III, Rowan and Zuri. He is further survived by his sister, Mary Lou McFarren, as well extended family members and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Mary Carroll.

Titus Funeral Home is entrusted with the care of Max. His family is grieving privately. A Life Celebration is being planned for this summer.
