Hazel Irene Montague, known to many simply as Irene, passed away unexpectedly in her Cape Coral, FL home on Saturday, June 29th. She was 91 years old and was born in Rochester on May 23, 1928. She was the daughter of John and Hazel (Clay) Waltz.
Irene had lived in the Warsaw area for many years and in the Fort Myers/Cape Coral area for the last several. She had previously held positions as a cashier, courtesy booth operator and a cook in a Christian school. Irene’s faith was important to her and she loved the time she spent working with the children. She also enjoyed crochet, crossword puzzles and had an easy-going personality.
Irene had a big heart and was very caring. Those whom she cared about most include son, Pete Conover of Cedar Lake, IN; four granddaughters: Amy (Brian) Smit of Cedar Lake, April Conover of Cedar Lake, Sharon Conover of Cedar Lake and Renee (Daniel) Dominguez of Cape Coral; two grandsons, JR Conover of Cape Coral and Bradley Conover of Goshen; several great-grandchildren and brother, Byron Waltz. She was preceded in passing by two sons, David Conover and Mark Conover. Also preceding her were four sisters: Marge, Betty, Jean and Pat; brother, Richard and three husbands.
Friends may join family for a time of visitation on Friday, July 5th at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw from 10 to 12 p.m. Beginning at Noon, Pastor Jerry Pittman of Antioch Baptist Church, Rochester, will officiate a funeral which celebrates Irene’s life. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
