Helen M. Ohner, 85, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 9:45 AM in Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, Indiana.
Helen was born to George R. and Leah M. (Betz) Nonnemaker on September 8, 1929 in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
On December 23, 1950 and in Reading, Pennsylvania, she and Floyd R. Ohner were joined in marriage. He would precede her death on November 7, 1989.
Helen worked in a garment factory in Allentown for several years and was a supervisor there.
She enjoyed traveling with spontaneity as well as eating out. Her family was important to her.
She leaves a daughter and son-in-law: Cindy and Herbert Bateman of Leesburg, Indiana; her only grandchild – a granddaughter and her husband: Leah and Travis Price of Lewisville, Texas; sister: Marian Freer of Allentown; half sister and her husband: Catherine “Molly” and Clark Ohner of Rainelle, West Virginia; and step sister: Mary Schwab of Allentown.
In addition to Floyd, Helen would be preceded in death by 5 siblings - 3 sisters: Betty Wieand, Caroline Furry and Mae Shelhamer and 2 brothers: Charles Nonnemaker and Mike Nonnemaker.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 25th beginning at 1 PM in New Goshenhoppen Cemetery, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville, Pennsylvania 18041. Helen’s son-in-law, Rev. Dr. Herb Bateman will officiate.
The family has asked that gifts in Helen’s memory be directed to Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice, PO Box 1196, Warsaw, Indiana 46581-1196 or Alzheimer’s Association, 617 Main Street, Hellertown, Pennsylvania 18055.
