Helen L. Youells, 94, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 3:12 PM in Mason Healthcare, Warsaw, Indiana.
Helen was born October 6, 1920 in Atwood, Indiana to Walter and Orta (Hazen) Koontz. She was a 1938 graduate of Atwood High School and was a lifetime Atwood resident. Helen and George Youells were joined in marriage on February 18, 1946 in Atwood. He preceded her in death December 3, 1981.
She was a seamstress, secretary/bookkeeper for Jomac and a secretary/bookkeeper for Stokes Bros., and Anglin Signs.
Helen was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Atwood where she played the piano for many years until 2014 at the age of 93. She enjoyed time spent as a member of the Atwood Home Study Home Ec. Club and the Kosciusko County Extension Choral Club.
Survivors include 2 nieces and 2 nephews. They are: Betty West, Atwood and Sue Huffman, Warsaw; Jim (and Melodie) Thomas, and Bill (and Becky) Thomas – all of Atwood.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Donald Koontz, sister: Doris Thomas and nephew: Donnie Koontz.
Family and friends will gather for a time of remembering Helen Monday, September 28, 2015 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 105 Hovey Street, Atwood. A service celebrating the life of Helen L. Youells will begin at Noon with Pastor Mike Beezley of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Stony Point Cemetery, Atwood.
The family has asked that gifts given in Helen’s memory be directed to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, PO Box 93, Atwood, Indiana 46502.
