Helen K. (Lemler) Anglin completed her life’s journey on April 3, 2016, stepping out of the darkness and confusion of several years of Alzheimer’s and into the presence of God. She was born on August 1, 1920 in East Chicago, IN, the 7th child of Hungarian immigrants, Steven and Mary Holechko.
Helen was a familiar figure in the Warsaw area all her life, volunteering for various organizations as well as serving as a nurse’s aide for many years at Murphy Medical Center until it closed its doors. She was a loving and compassionate employee who loved giving help and comfort to others. We were often approached by strangers who had been on the receiving end of her care, telling us how our Mom had been so kind to them during their hospital stay. She was a gracious lady, even to the very end when she no longer recognized anyone except for our brother Jimmy, who dedicated himself as her 24/7 care giver during the last several years of her life.
Helen is survived by her 6 children, Jean Gift (Lloyd), Naples, FL., Richard Lemler, Los Alamos, NM, Shirley White (John), Warsaw, IN., June Davies, Myrtle Creek, OR, Frances McGuire, Colorado Springs, CO., and James C. Lemler Jr. (Jimmy), Warsaw, IN She was once interviewed by our sister Fran who asked if her children were planned. She answered, “No, but all are loved.” She showed that love to us every day. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband’s James C. Lemler who passed in 1973 and Harvey B. Anglin who passed in 1997, her parents, 5 sisters and 1 brother, 2 granddaughters – Pacific Spirit Davies and Sydney Gift Tomas, and a 4 year old great-grandson Julian.
Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw, IN has been entrusted to Mom’s cremation and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Kosciusko County Home Care and Hospice, P.O. Box 1196, Warsaw, IN, 46581, who gave excellent care, coming to the house frequently, showing her utmost respect and kindness. We deeply appreciate all the nurses, aides, and the Chaplain who played his guitar and sang hymns to Mom every week, bringing her great joy.
