Henry Wallen, 103, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 2:10 p.m. in Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw, Indiana.
Henry was born November 9, 1913 in Floyd County, Kentucky to William Jasper and Nebraska Susann (Sizemore) Wallen.
On July 17, 1940, Henry was married to Bessie Hall in Bull Creek, Kentucky. Together they would share 73 years until her passing on December 18, 2013.
Henry was a resident of Floyd County, Kentucky for many years; he spent the last 47 years in Winona Lake, Indiana. He worked as a Coal Miner before joining the Gatke Corporation, where he worked for 25 years until he retired in 1972. He was a member of Rosehill United Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, William Ray (Sally) Wallen of Panama City, Florida; a daughter, Francis Wallen of Terrell, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 20 great, great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Bessie Hall, who preceded him in death on December 18, 2013, he was preceded by a son, Donald Wallen; a daughter, Henrietta Myers, 4 brothers: Russell Wallen, Joe Wallen, Jack Wallen, and Newton Wallen; 3 sisters: Sally Collins, Katie Calhoun, Marie Thompson, and 1 great, great granddaughter.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 16th from 5 to 8 p.m. at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan Street, Warsaw, Indiana. A funeral service celebrating Henry’s life will take place on Saturday, June 17th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Elder Harold Vance of Rosehill United Baptist Church, Silver Lake, will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery, Silver Lake.
The family has asked that gifts in Henry’s memory be directed to The Salvation Army, 501 Arthur Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580.
