Herbert R. "Herb" Gilmore Jr.

Herbert R. “Herb” Gilmore Jr., 81, of North Webster, IN passed away at 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at his home. He was born on September 26, 1931 in Cadiz, IN to Herbert R. & Clio Belle (Yelton) Gilmore.

He graduated in 1949 from Anderson High School and served in the U.S. Navy. On September 10, 1955 in Muncie, IN he married Sandra J. “Sandy” Sult who survives. He had been a summer resident of North Webster for 40 years before moving there permanently 11 years ago. He was formerly employed at State Farm Insurance Co. in Muncie for 20 years & Kroger’s Supermarkets in Muncie & Anderson for 11 years.

He formerly attended the Gethsemane United Methodist Church in Muncie and was a scout leader for the Boy & Cub Scouts in Muncie.

He is survived by:
Wife – Sandy Gilmore of North Webster
Daughter – Mrs. Mike (Julie) Pierce of Columbia City, IN
Son – Mark (wife, DiAnn) of Muncie
5 Grand, 2 Step Grand, & 3 Step Gt. Grandchildren
Sister – Shirley Ann Davis of Anderson

He was preceded by his parents & step gt. grandson – Michael Pierce

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd, 13 & C.R. 500N, North Webster. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon on Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Mike Beezley of the Clunette United Methodist Church officiating. Military graveside services will be at 12:00 noon on Monday, December 31, 2012 at the Mechanicsburg Cemetery on IN 36 near Pendleton, IN with Pastor David Smitley of the North Webster United Methodist Church officiating.

Memorial bequest may be given to Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice, 1515 Provident Drive, Suite 250, Warsaw, IN 46580. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
