Hiram Ferverda

Hiram B. (Slimmy) Ferverda, 95, of North Webster died on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 9:50 a.m. in Miller's Merry Manor, Syracuse, IN. He was born April 2, 1912, in Leesburg, IN to Ervin Guy and Jessie (Hartman) Ferverda.

He graduated in 1930 from Leesburg High School. He was married on August 18, 1934, in Syracuse, IN to Irene Shock, who survives.

He was a lifetime area resident and was a retired farmer. He was formerly employed with Kilmer Painting in Milford and for many years he was a self-employed painter. He was a member of the North Webster Church of God where he was active in the men's prayer group, J.O.Y. (Just Older Youth), and he was a founding member of the Original Quartet.

He is survived by:
Wife - Irene Ferverda of North Webster

2 Daughters - Mrs. Nub (Sue) Niles of North Webster and Mrs. Dave (Bev) Carey of Leesburg,
Daughter in law - Roberta Ferverda of Warsaw.

9 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great grandchild

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son - Donald Ferverda, 2 granddaughters - Diane Niles and Kay Ferverda, a great granddaughter - Kathy Carmack, 1 sister - Myra Grove, and 1 brother - Roland Ferverda.

Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2007 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2007 in the North Webster Church of God with pastors Jeff Boyer & Dennis Judy of the North Webster Church of God officiating. Burial will follow at McClintic Cemetery at Syracuse, IN.
