Irene Davis (Shively)

Irene Gaynelle Davis, 99, Warsaw, passed away at 1:08 p.m. on February 18, 2018, in Lake City Place, Warsaw.
She was born on October 6, 1918, to Ernest and Hazel (Ellis) Shively, in Burket, Indiana. Irene was a 1937 graduate of Claypool High School.
On December 23, 1939, Irene married Roy Max Davis in Indianapolis, Indiana. They had three children during their 53-year marriage.
Irene was a housewife during the years that her children were in school. Irene and Max then moved to Warsaw in 1976. She was employed by the Warsaw Community Schools as a cook for 10 years before her retirement.
She was a member of Claypool United Methodist Church and loved her church family. In earlier days, she was involved in the Happy Homemakers Club and Claypool Fireman’s Auxillary.
She enjoyed sewing and quilting with her daughter, Betty. She was an avid Warsaw Tigers basketball fan. She attended many Chicago Cubs baseball games with her family and friends. She was also a NASCAR fan. She loved to travel with her family and spent some winters in Florida with her sister, Jeannette.
Surviving family members include: daughter, Peggy (Michael) Longenecker of Warsaw, son-in-law, Terry Jefferies of Centerpoint; 4 grandchildren: Michele (Tim) Persinger of Clay City, Ty (Debbie) Jefferies of Terre Haute, Earl (Julie) Patrick, Jr. of Castalian Springs, TN, and Ryan (Charity) Longenecker of Chandler, AZ; 9 great-grandchildren: Tanner (Brandi) Persinger of Clay City, Sierra, Jaylin, and Chad Jefferies of Terre Haute, Adam Patrick of Castalian Springs, TN, Emily (Adam) Davis of Bethpage, TN, Erin Longenecker of Phoenix, AZ, Karrah Longenecker of Chandler, AZ, and Kersty Patrick of Indianapolis; 5 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Jeannette Sadler of Warsaw; one brother, Don Shively of Claypool; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max Davis; two daughters, Patricia Jefferies and Betty Patrick; one sister, Pauline Lowry; two brothers, Merle and Albert Shively; and one grandson, Gregory Patrick.
Friends may join the family for a time of visitation at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan Street, Warsaw on Wednesday February 21st from 9 to 11 a.m. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Mike Settles of Claypool United Methodist Church, will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.
