Jack L. Stump, 84, of North Webster, IN passed away at 4:35 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw, IN. He was born on September 6, 1930 in Noble County, IN to Chester Leroy & Erma Lucille (Hontz) Stump.
He was a lifetime Noble / Kosciusko County area resident, graduated in 1948 from North Webster High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On December 3, 1949 in Etna, IN at the United Methodist Parsonage he married Ellie D. Miller who preceded him in death on December 22, 2014. He retired from the maintenance department at Maple Leaf Farms in 2000 after 23+ years and formerly worked at Monsanto in Ligonier for 13 years.
He was a member of Salem Community Church and American Legion Post 253 in North Webster where he was a past commander.
He is survived by:
2 Daughters- Debbie (Kurt) Church of Huntington, IN & Diane (Jerry) Schuh of Warsaw
Son- David (Nancy) Stump of Ligonier
8 Grand, 6 Step Grand, & 4 Gt. Grand & 9 Step Gt. grandchildren
2 Sisters- Joy Weimer of Ligonier & Judy Crider of Churubusco
He was preceded by his parents & wife.
Visitation will be 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & C.R. 500N, North Webster. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Colbe officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery in Wilmot, IN with military graveside rites performed by the North Webster American Legion.
