James C. "Jim" Stucky

James C. “Jim” Stucky, 97, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 4:42 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016 at The Maples of Waterford Crossing in Goshen, IN. He was born on December 16, 1918 in Berne, IN to Elmer & Elsie Gertrude (Smith) Stucky.

He moved to the Syracuse area in 1933 from Berne, graduated in 1936 from Syracuse High School, and in 1940 from North Central College in Naperville, IL. He was a United States Navy veteran who served for 44 months during World War II. He was married on May 9, 1943 in San Francisco, CA to Laura C. Bachman who survives. He retired in 1982 as a sales representative from Norwalk Furniture Co. in Norwalk, OH after 28 years.

He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Syracuse, Lions Club in Syracuse for 58 years, and Masonic Lodge in Fort Wayne.  He formerly served on the Syracuse Cemetery Board and the Wawasee Community School Board in Syracuse.

He is survived by:

Wife – Laura Stucky of Syracuse

1 Daughter - Judith Jarrett of Syracuse

1 Son- Curtis James (Doris) Stucky of Syracuse

3 Grandchildren – Jeff (Beth) Jarrett, Lauren (Miguel) Roa, and James Stucky

2 Gt. Grandchildren – Connor & Allison Jarrett

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister- Gwendolyn Immel, 2 brothers- Lymon Roger Stucky and Ted Daniel Stucky.

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd. 15, Warsaw, IN. Private family graveside services will be held in the Syracuse Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Grace Lutheran Church, 203 E. Main St, Syracuse, IN. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the church with Pastor Wendy Piano of the church officiating.

Preferred memorials may be given to the Grace Lutheran Church, 203 E. Main St, Syracuse, IN 46567. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
