Jane (Glover) McInnis, 66, beloved wife of The Reverend Joseph E. McInnis, passed away on December 28, 2018 in her Eugene, Oregon home.
Jane was born on January 28, 1952 in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Richard and Evelyn (Pearse) Glover. She spent much of her youth in Warsaw, Indiana, graduating from Warsaw Community High School in 1970. She earned a Bachelor of Music from Miami University (OH) in 1975 and a Master’s in performance and pedagogy from Southern Methodist University in Dallas TX in 1983.
Music was Jane’s great passion and she tried to instill that same passion, love and reverence in all her students. She taught piano and music for more than 46 years to children of all ages and spent time as an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University-Purdue University, Fort Wayne. Jane was an accomplished pianist and excelled as an accompanist as well as a performer. She was a member of the SAI music fraternity, the Northern Indiana Music Teacher’s Association and the North Shore (Chicago) Music Teacher’s Association holding various offices in each.
Jane had an eye for beauty and was able to find it in everything and everyone she met. Jane had a green thumb, especially with flowers. Her lovely arrangements brought joy and great beauty to many occasions. She also had a very soft spot in her heart for dogs, both hers and those she met in the neighborhood. Jane never met a dog she didn’t like.
Jane was united in marriage to Rev. Joseph E. McInnis on January 31, 1998 in Antioch Lutheran Church, Hoagland, Indiana. After serving there for ten years, they spent the next 10 years serving at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Wilmette, Illinois. In 2017, they retired to Eugene, Oregon to spend time with family and their first grandchild.
In addition to her husband, Jane is survived by her step-daughter, Katie Rinaldi of Eugene, OR; step-son, Joey McInnis of Burbank, CA.; grandson, Benjamin Rinaldi of Eugene, OR and three cousins: Herb Glover of Orange Park FL, Ken Gross of Colorado Springs, CO and Jack Glover of Richmond, VA.
