Janet A. Davis

Janet A. Davis, 78, of Syracuse, IN went to be with her Lord & Savior at 3:05 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2014 at I.U. Goshen Hospital in Goshen, IN. She was born on August 16, 1936 in Marion, IN to John Franklin & Doris Lucille (Bragg) Shroat.

She graduated in 1954 from Marion High School, attended Indiana University in Bloomington and graduated in 1977 from Anderson College. She was married on May 15, 1982 in Anderson to Richard L. “Dick” Davis who survives and moved to the Syracuse area in 1982 from Anderson. She was formerly employed at Layman Life Insurance Company in Anderson for 5 years. She was the owner / operator of Janet Davis Tax Prep where she was a private accountant & tax preparer.

She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Syracuse where she sang in the church choir and was active in the St. Andrews United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Tri Kappa Sorority, Ladies of the Round Table, and the National Association of Tax Professionals and formerly attended the First United Methodist Church in Anderson.

She is survived by:
Husband – Dick Davis of Syracuse
3 Daughters – Dr. Diane Begley of Lafayette, IN; Beverly Begley of Georgetown, IN; & Cheryl (Mark) Jordon of Greenfield, IN
3 Sons – Dr. Jeffrey Begley of Los Angeles, CA; Brian (Brenda) Begley of White Lake, MI; & Dr. Benjamin Begley of Carbondale, IL
12 Grand & 5 Gt. Grandchildren
Brother – John (Bev) Shroat of Valparaiso, IN
2 Nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents & step son – Michael Davis.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 1413 N Long, Syracuse, IN with Pastor Ed Beedle officiating.

Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN is in charge of the arrangements
