Janet L. Byland, 84, of Elkhart, IN (formerly of Syracuse, IN) passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Wakarusa, IN. She was born on January 22, 1936 in Goshen, IN to Clyde & Rita (Christian) Weaver.

She attended Syracuse High School and was married on September 4, 1952 in Akron, IN to Nelson L. Byland who survives. She was a homemaker and retired from Penn Controls in Goshen. She lived most of her life in the Syracuse area and lived in Florida for 15 years before moving to Elkhart in 2015.

She formerly attended St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Syracuse, was a former member of the Mother’s Club in Syracuse, and was a bridge player in Syracuse and Sebring, FL.

She is survived by:

Husband- Nelson “Louis” Byland of Elkhart

2 Sons – William “Bill” (Darlene) Byland of Wakarusa & Michael (Lori) Byland of Goshen

6 Grandchildren – Amanda, Michelle, Michael, Mitchel, Candace, and Crystal

She was preceded in death by her parents, son – Douglas Byland, and sister - Carol Hochstetler.

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd. 15, Warsaw, IN. No services will be held. Burial will take place in the Syracuse Cemetery. Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN is in charge of arrangements.

Preferred memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.
