Janine A. Hunter, a beloved member of the community and a treasured friend to all, passed away on September 29, 2023, at Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital at the age of 74. She was born on June 18, 1949, in Fort Wayne, IN to Byron and Winifred "Wynne" Hunter. Janine's remarkable life was filled with joy, determination, and a selfless spirit that touched the hearts of those around her.
In her early days as a waitress, the secretary for Mayor Mike Hodges, and later as the Deputy Clerk-Treasurer for the City of Warsaw, Janine dedicated herself to serving others with unwavering kindness and grace. Her warm smile and generous spirit brightened the days of both colleagues and customers alike. She took pride in her work and always went above and beyond to ensure that everyone she encountered felt valued and appreciated.
Janine's magnetic personality was impossible to ignore. Spicey, tough, and a fighter through and through, she never let life's challenges dampen her spirits. Her ability to connect with people was truly remarkable - she did not know a stranger and befriended everyone she met. Janine had a special talent for making others feel seen and loved.
One of Janine's greatest joys in life was her family. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, bringing immeasurable happiness and love into her world. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories that will be treasured for generations to come. Janine loved her trips to Florida with her family and creating precious memories they would hold dear forever.
In her free time, Janine found joy in exploring local garage sales and thrift stores in search of hidden treasures. She had an exceptional eye for seeing beauty where others could not - turning discarded items into cherished pieces that brought joy into her home. Her creative mind and passion for repurposing left an indelible mark on those who knew her.
Janine leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to have known her. She is survived by her children, Randy (Tammy) Barber of North Manchester and Leslie (Bruce) Jackson of Syracuse; grandchildren, Brenden (Shila) Barber, Benjamin Jackson, Luke (Keirsten) Jackson, Elizabeth (Gage) Reinhard, Brett (Erika) Lukens, Grant Lukens, Tara (Jerry) Blankenship; great-grandchildren, Jordie Ann Reinhard, Kree and Kase Barber, Braydon, Landon, Lucas, and Brooklyn Blankenship. Janine is also survived by her siblings, Joyce Burnett, Rodney (Leslie) Hunter, and Pam (Jerry) Koehlinger. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Randy Hunter, and great granddaughter Lainey Lou Reinhard.
Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with Janine's care. A visitation in honor of Janine's memory will be held on October 7, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the funeral home, 2000 Sheridan Street Warsaw, IN, immediately followed by a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Animal Welfare League, 1048 325 E, Pierceton, IN 46562.
