Jay M. Berkey, 67, of Minster, OH (formerly of Warsaw, IN) passed away at 3:42 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at his home. He was born on September 22, 1949 in Warsaw, IN to John R. & Esther L (Matthews) Berkey.
He graduated in 1968 from Warsaw High School, received a degree in welding, and was a United States Army veteran. On December 31, 1981 in Milford, IN he married Deborah A. (Howard) who survives. He was a farmer, retired from Sprint in Sidney, OH after 20 years & formerly worked at Ply Gem in Sidney, OH as a forklift driver for 5 years. He grew up in Warsaw and moved to Ohio 19 years ago from Warsaw.
He was a member of the Faith Alliance in New Bremen, OH
He is survived by:
Wife – Deborah Berkey of Minster, OH
2 Daughters- Rebecca (James) Kuether of Minster, OH & Jaianne (Todd) Unrast of Cassella, OH
Son – John Berkey of Fort Loramie, OH
9 Grandchildren – Adam, Grace, Ashlee, Emilee, and Kylee Kuether; Rylee, Colten, and Wyatt Unrast; and Gavin Berkey
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4:00- - 8:00 on Wednesday, December 21, 2106 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 in the funeral home with Pastor Trent Fledderjohann officiating. Burial will follow in the Milford Cemetery.
