Jean A. Koher

Jean A. Koher, 97, of Syracuse, IN entered life on April 8, 1925 in South Bend, IN to Everett & Lena (Monroe) Ketring and began a new life at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse, IN.

She lived most of her life in the Syracuse area and graduated in 1943 from Syracuse High School. She married the love of her life, Christian F. “Chris” Koher Sr. on April 4, 1947 in Syracuse, IN and he preceded her on March 19, 1983.

She was totally committed to her family, of which she was entirely proud of. She touched the lives of countless students as secretary of the Syracuse High School and Junior High School. She was a member of the St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Syracuse.

She is survived by:

Daughter – Nancy (Lavone Miller) Shields of Syracuse

Son – Christian “J.R.” Koher Jr. of Syracuse

Grandson – Jeff (Nicky) Shields of Syracuse

2 Gt. & 3 Gt. Gt. Grandchildren

Sister – Joan Stoelting of Syracuse

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister – Nancy Olivares.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2022 at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 1413 N. Long Dr., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the church with Pastor Jim Tormey officiating. Burial will be in the Syracuse Cemetery. Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN is in charge of arrangements.

Preferred memorials may be given to the St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church.
