Jerry E. Landis passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 8:25 pm in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Jerry was 72 years old.
A resident of Leesburg, Indiana, he was born in Linton, Greene County, Indiana on March 23, 1944. As the son of Richard Theodore and Rachel Mae (Riggle) Landis, Jerry was one of eight children.
He graduated from Midland HS in Midland, Indiana with the class of 1962 and enlisted in the United States Army some years later. Jerry was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam conflict and was honorably discharged in 1970.
On December 26,1981 Jerry and Ginger McCullough were married in Winona Lake. Together the two would share nearly 35 years and many memories.
Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He like to work on vintage tractors and was especially fond of old Fords. He was a member of the Echoes of the Past tractor club and attended Leesburg United Methodist Church. Above all, Jerry was a devoted family man to whom his children and grandchildren were everything.
Those left to cherish memories of Jerry include his wife: Ginger Landis of Leesburg; 3 sons: Ron (Kathy) Landis of Warsaw, Scott Landis of Warsaw and Michael (Tara) Strieby of Cromwell, Indiana; 3 daughters: Amy Comadoll of Clunette, Indiana, Sheri Easley of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Rachale (Joseph) Emerson of Calvin Center, Michigan; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 brothers: Rex (Geneva) Landis of New Castle, Indiana, and Dave (Ellie) Landis of Bean Blossom, Indiana.
Jerry was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters: Donnie Landis, Paul Landis, Richard Landis, Betty Stuck and Evelyn Turley.
Friends and family will gather for a time of visitation on Friday, July 8th from 1 to 4 pm in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. A funeral service celebrating the life of Jerry Landis will be held in the funeral home following visitation and beginning at 4pm. Pastor Rob Seewald of Leesburg United Methodist Church, Leesburg, will officiate. Burial will take place at Leesburg Cemetery with military graveside honors conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that gifts in Jerry’s memory be made to Echoes of the Past c/o Jackie Clase, Treasurer 8881 West 225 North Etna Green, Indiana 46524.
