Jimmie Dale Webb, 74, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 7:44 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at his home. He was born on April 7, 1937 in Huntington, W. VA to Elza & Iva M. (Tiller) Webb.
He graduated in 1956 from Huntington High School in Huntington, W. VA and was married on June 3, 1956 in Huntington W. VA to Alma J. Burton who preceded him in death on March 23, 2010. He retired in 1998 after 15 years from Southern Michigan State Prison in Jackson, MI as a corrections officer and formerly worked at Goodyear in Jackson. He moved to Syracuse in 1999 from Jackson, Mi where he had lived for 45 years.
He was a member of the New Life Christian Church in Warsaw and was a 7
th
Degree Black Belt, Karate Instructor.
He is survived by:
2 Daughters – Mrs. Stephen (Tonya) Gaffney of North Webster & Mrs. Robert (Rebecca) Tynan of Syracuse
2 Sons – Jimmie (wife, Inez) Webb Jr. of Jackson, MI & John Allen Webb of Jackson, MI
10 Grand & 8 Gt. Grandchildren
2 Brothers – Gary (wife, Louise) Webb of Proctorville, OH & Robert (wife, Christine) Webb of Clark Lake, MI
He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter – Kayla Webb.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor John B. Lowe of the church officiating. Burial will take place in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Jackson, MI.
