Jimmie Lee “Jim” Avery, 75, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 11:33 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2020 at his home. He was born on September 16, 1944 in Syracuse, IN to Owen D. & Waneta (Amsden) Avery.

He was a lifetime area resident and attended Syracuse Public Schools. He was married on March 24, 1962 in Milford, IN to Crystal Marie Nyce who survives. He was a self-employed carpenter & retired in 2010 from Commodore Homes in Goshen after 30+ years.

He is survived by:

Wife – Crystal Avery of Syracuse

3 Daughters-Tammy (Byron) Oswald of Syracuse, Tracy (Ron) Pollock of Syracuse, and Trisha (Chris) Guy of Warsaw

Son-Jason Lee (Renee) Avery of Milford

12 Grand & 8 Gt. Grandchildren

2 Sisters-Sharon (Dewayne) Lemler of Nappanee & Esther Fisher of Pierceton

2 Brothers- Allen (Carol) Avery of Syracuse & Frederick Avery of Plymouth

He was preceded in death by his parents & 4 Brothers – Richard, Ivan, Charles, and David Avery.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Milford, IN with Pastor Mark Kondas of the Christian Life Apostolic Church in Warsaw officiating. Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN is in charge of arrangements.

Preferred memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
