Jimmie Lee "Jim" White, 74, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 8:35 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at I.U. Goshen Hospital.  He was born on December 31, 1937 in Etna Green, IN to Robert O. & Mary E. (Heckaman) White.

He graduated in 1956 from Etna Green High School, 1961 from Ball State in Muncie, and then received his Master’s Degree from Ball State and was married on July 30, 1961 to Janet J. Rhodes who survives. He was a lifetime Marshall / Kosciusko County area resident, having moved to Milford / Syracuse area in 1968 from Plymouth and was a retired educator after many years of teaching band, choir, & shop at local schools.

He was a member of the St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church where he was very active with the music department.

He is survived by:
Wife – Janet White of Syracuse
2 Daughters – Mrs. Dean (Jamie) Culbertson of Syracuse & Mrs. Edgar (JoLene) Treace of Fort Wayne
2 Grandchildren - Sarah Asher & John Asher
4 Step Grandchildren
3 Sisters – Mary Ann Bules of Etna Green; Mrs. Frank (Kay) Furaro of Mishawaka; & Loretta Holderead of Muncie

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 1413 N. Long Dr., Syracuse with Pastor Mark Eastway of the church officiating.  Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.

Memorial bequest may be given to St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 1413 N. Long Dr., Syracuse, IN 46567.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
