Jimmy D. “Jim” Boyer, 73, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 3:55 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at I.U. Goshen Hospital in Goshen, IN. He was born on January 23, 1938 in New Paris, IN to Harold Owen & Lottie Estelle (Vance) Boyer.
He was a lifetime Elkhart / Kosciusko county area resident and attended New Paris Public Schools. He was married on September 16, 1960 in Syracuse to Carol L. Wogoman who preceded him in death on December 7, 1999. He retired from Nuway Construction in Goshen and formerly worked for Liberty Homes, Commodore Homes and Viking Industries all of Syracuse.
He is survived by:
Daughter – Mrs. Warren (Belinda) Hickman of North Webster
2 Sons – Brent Boyer of Syracuse & Brian (wife, Tina) Boyer of Knoxville, TN
Foster Son – Bruce (wife, Becky) Rookstool of Huron, OH
3 Sisters – Mrs. Sam (Sue) Keene; Mrs. Delbert "Smokey" (Jane) Schmucker & Belle Bigler all of Goshen
2 Brothers – Jack (wife, Linda) Boyer of Pensacola, FL & Bill (wife, Bonnie) Boyer of South Bend
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister- Berdine Barron, & 2 brothers- Harold Owen Boyer Jr, & George Boyer
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the funeral home with Bruce Rookstool officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
